Welcome to Out to Sea Pottery, handmade ceramics by Kimberly Hardiman Winnicky.
Welcome!
I have been in love ceramics for over 25 years. I got my start as a freshman at Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas ( shoutout to Mr. Putnam! ). I continued my ceramics education at Johnson County Community College (KS), Raritan Valley Community College (NJ) and finished my Bachelors in Art Education at The College of New Jersey.
I was a K-8 art educator for 12 years, always keeping ceramics in my life in some way. I left teaching at the end of the 2021 school year. In June 2022, I purchased the community studio that I had been working out of for many years and opened Flemington Pottery. At Flemington Pottery we focus on cone 10 gas reduction firing. It’s been really amazing to be able to share my knowledge of clay with students everyday and to be able to work alongside so many talented artists.
Though my studio is focused on cone 10 firing, most of the pieces I sell on my website are fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. This allows me to use a dark brown clay body and preserve certain colors in my paintings.
I hope that my work extends an offering of comfort and companionship; a friend to chat with over a favorite drink.
Thanks for taking a look!
Kimberly
